People now have the ability to listen to their favorite music and/or podcast anywhere at any time on any electronic device, like their smartphones. The wireless earbuds technology allows them to listen to whatever is being played on their smartphone, while at the same time being able to perform any physical activities such as running or weight lifting. As more people want to stay active and fit, there will be more people wanting to use wireless earbuds to stay connected to their devices.
According to kbvresearch.com, the Global True Wireless Stereo Earbuds Market size is expected to reach $243.9 billion by 20281.
The JLab JBuds Air Sport is one of the many earbuds that can help people listen and stay connected to their device while exercising or doing aerobic activities. These earbuds battery range is about 4.5 hours and the charging case can extend this range to about 30 hours.
The charging case can be charged through the built-in USB cable and can deliver a quick 15 minute charge to the earbuds that allows for an hour of listening.
The earbuds have a IP66 rating for water resistance so it can withstand some sweat and dirt while running or working out. Either earbud can be used independently to connect to wireless to the phone via Bluetooth 5.0 and has a built in microphone for taking calls as well. There are tap controls that let you change the sound modes, adjust the volume, hang up calls, etc. which are nice features to have.
Ergonomics and Comfort: Designed for Movement
These earbuds have a hook that latches onto your ears and helps it stay in place while exercising. The included ear tips can help make wearing the earbuds comfortable.
Other brands like the Soundcore by Anker AeroFit Pro have similar design using earhooks to latch onto the ear for a secure fit. It may not be good for long term use according to one Amazon reviewer2. It bruised his ear in multiple spots.
Sound Quality and Performance: Your Music, Your Pace
The sound quality is pretty good based on personal use over the years. According to the SoundGuys, these earbuds exaggerate the base frequencies.3 This apparently can help you hear the music if you are working out inside a loud gym. There are a couple of sound settings to choose from: JLab signature, balanced, or bass boost; each one giving some a different playback of music.
When I use the earbuds to talk with someone on the phone or on Microsoft Teams through a voice chat, I can hear my voice clearly. According to PCMag, they used a voice memo on a iPhone 8 and they could hear their voices very clear as well.4
Battery Life and Connectivity: Stay Charged and Connected
These Jbuds earbuds have a general battery life is 4.5 hours. The case would need 3 hours to fully charge and the earbuds would need 1.5 hours to fully charge as well. The earbuds can connect wirelessly to any mobile device through Bluetooth 5.0 and have a range of about 30 feet.
Here is general video on how to guide to setup the earbuds:
Conclusion
The JLab JBuds Air Sport ear buds are affordable earbuds that are designed to work well under active outdoor use. After using these earbuds for years, I noticed other things as well. It can get hot after a long period of use. The battery range can degrade over years of use. For example, the left earbud only lasts about 15 minutes before needing to recharge. Even with these weaknesses, I still continue to use these earbuds and as they generally work well for my needs, like voice calls over Microsoft Teams.
